History of HTML - Hypertext Markup Language


Overview

HTML was developed in the 90s and still continues because HTML is constantly developing language. Many versions have come so far, In 1980, Lee discovered HTML in Geneva. Berners Lee Invented the world wide web in 1989. Al present, the task of developing HTML is within an organization "WORLD WIDE WEB CONSORTIUM" this organization now takes care of HTML

HTML Versions

HTML

This version was a form of SGML(Standard Generalised Markup Language). The text could be structured by this. Some tags were created it was an HTML and the next version of HTML had names so for convenience this version was also called HTML1.0

HTML 2.0

This version of HTML was named by IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) after the primary version of HTML. this version was called HTML 2.0 which was published in 1995 in this edition some new features were added in which "Image tag" was the most important.

HTML 3.0

By this time HTML and the internet had left their mark and both were becoming popular more and more people wanted to join the internet. Therefore due to excessive use of HTML, some complications arose, so the next version of HTML was created which was 3.0 but it was never published.

HTML 3.2

An organization had already emerged until the publication of HTML 1.0 and the recommendation of HTML 3.0, which is made to work for the HTML language. It is known as W3C("worldwide web Consortium").In 1997 the next version of HTML was published by the W3C. It had many features than both versions of HTML.html document could now be created in more ways through HTML3.2 in this edition Many new attributes were added which were more for his style than the structure of the document. However, by the time, the readers of HTML i.e browsers were very slow. They still did not support all features of HTML3.2,

HTML 4.0

Now the internet was very popular. More and More people wanted to learn HTML. They started wanting more than HTML.therefore to fill this gap the next version of HTML4.0 was published.
  1. Separation of structure and presentation
  2. Style sheet
  3. Accessibility Client-side Scripting
  4. Frames
  5. Advanced Tables
the browser who read it had also got some advance and could read most of the features of HTML. This was a major change in HTML

HTML 5

HTML5 has come along with clean markup and clean code that make it more accessible than the previous version. HTML 5 allows the web developer and web designer to use neater code and remove div tags and replace all the div tags with new HTML 5 elements 
  1. video and audio. Video and audio are the new tags that allow embedding a video in the website
  2. header 
  3. canvas 
  4. footer 
  5. nav. The nav element is used for the part of an internet site that links to different pages at the website.
